To produce carbon fibers, special processes are used that require high temperatures of up to 1500 degrees Celsius. The manufacturing process usually begins with a starting material, such as polyacrylonitrile (PAN), that is heated under controlled conditions.

This process, also known as pyrolysis, removes the non-carbonaceous components of the material and creates the desired carbon fibers.

The high strength and light weight of carbon fiber make it an ideal material for a wide range of applications, particularly in industry, motorsport and aerospace.

Compared to other materials like steel and aluminum, carbon offers significantly higher tensile strength and stiffness at a fraction of the weight.

This enables the construction of lighter, yet strong and resilient structures.

The stability of carbon fiber results from the strong chemical bond between the carbon atoms, which are arranged in a hexagonal pattern, providing unique strength and stiffness values.

The tensile strength of carbon fiber, a measure of the material's resilience, is around 3,500 to 7,000 MPa, which means that it is significantly stronger compared to steel, which has a tensile strength of around 500 MPa. Carbon fiber also has high stiffness, which means it deforms little under load. These properties allow carbon fiber to withstand a wide range of stresses without breaking or deforming.

In addition, carbon fiber has a low density, which means that it is significantly lighter than other materials such as steel or aluminum for the same strength. This makes it ideal for applications where weight savings and high strength are required, such as automotive, aerospace, aerospace, sports equipment and construction industries.

Removing scratches from carbon fiber can be tricky as the material is delicate. and improper handling can lead to further damage. Here are some steps you can follow to safely and effectively remove carbon fiber scratches:

1. Thoroughly clean the affected area with a mild detergent and water to remove dirt and debris. Then dry the surface with a soft cloth.
2. Use a fine sandpaper (e.g. 1000-2000 grit) and water to gently remove the scratches. Sand in a circular motion, applying only light pressure. Make sure that the sandpaper is always wet so as not to damage the material.
3. After removing the scratch, buff the surface with a polishing paste and a soft cloth or a low-speed buffing machine. Work in circular motions to achieve an even shine.
4. Finally, apply a coat of clear coat or carbon fiber sealer to protect the finish and maintain the shine. Allow the paint or sealer to dry and cure according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Carbon cannot rust because rusting is a process unique to ferrous metals such as steel. Rust occurs when iron reacts with oxygen and moisture in the air, resulting in the formation of iron oxides. Because carbon fiber is made from carbon fiber and contains no iron, it is not prone to rusting.
